Pastor John Preus, Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA, will be leading a workshop entitled Hymns and Music at Funerals. Below is a description of the workshop.
What and whom is a funeral for? And how stubborn or accommodating should we be when planning them? With this topic we will look at how to plan a funeral. There are ways to be sensitive to grieving families without compromising the integrity of the funeral service. We will therefore consider how we can keep our services thoroughly evangelical/Lutheran without needlessly upsetting those who want to plan these services otherwise. Although we cannot control how people feel or think, we can at least develop something consistent that will make planning these services easier.
