Pastor John Preus, Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA, will be leading a workshop entitled Sunday School Openings. Below is a description of the workshop.
With this topic we will consider the value of Sunday school for young children, for teachers, for parents, and for the whole congregation. We will hear how the pastor can 1) encourage children to pay attention and get the most out of their instruction, 2) prepare the teachers to teach and build upon consistent patterns of pedagogy, and 3) assist the parents in their duty to do the same at home. We will consider ways to bridge both Sunday school and the Divine Service, as well as Sunday school and the Christian home, and so see the relationship between all three.
